It has been suggested by other people that if you run epic through a steam client then it will recognise the controller provided steam recognises it. I run my controller through steam and it works but I also have the needed xinput driver so can't confirm weather it will work or not. xxdefaxx. •. this vid should help.
So you have the same issue as I do. I use an OG xbox one controller as well. u/TheFortniteTeam said in my DMs that they are still looking into this issue. The triggers don't work for anything except riding a vehicle (car, quadcrasher and a golf cart) Edit: i believe it might be an issue with proper registering, Dualshock 4 does not have this

The buttons on my controller stopped working with the new fortnite update. I have changed the batteries, tried a different controller, re-synced the controller, updated them and the Xbox 1, restarted fortnite several times and uninstalled and reinstalled it twice. Same problem every time. Even deleted my fortnite account and signed up again.
I FOUND THE SOLUTION!!! Your controller may have a sensitive left trigger, this makes the cars brake always be on. If you pull the left trigger out it should let you drive but the R2/RT, and L2/LT wont appear in the controls. 5. faeluvr.
Tried disconnecting and reconnecting the controller, still no luck. I noticed that it all started after I downloaded Xbox Game Pass onto my PC and tried playing a game on there with a PS4 controller (which didn't work). I then went to go play Fortnite w/some friends shortly afterwards and that's when this started. Can't seem to find the fix.

Switch each one off or all off. Then to find out with one is causing this issue. Use eg: dolphin emulator to see your controller blinds and it won't show as virtual it's say eg:elite (the controller make you are using) The one that is causing this issue will make it change instantly. Really hope this works for you all.
